Scenario: A supporter creates a Facebook fundraiser on one day and deletes it before the next import of Facebook transaction data into GivePanel. Will this fundraiser still appear in GivePanel?

Answer:
Whether this fundraiser appears in GivePanel depends on several factors, including whether the fundraiser received donations and how it was created.

Types of Facebook Fundraisers and Data Import Rules

  1. Organic Fundraisers (Created Directly on Facebook):

    • Without Donations: If no donations were made, the fundraiser will not appear in the facebook transaction data uploaded to GivePanel so no facebook fundraiser record is created in GivePanel.

    • With Donations: If there’s at least one donation, the donation should appear in the Facebook transaction data and create a donation record and fundraiser record in GivePanel.
Note: Sometimes, for privacy reasons, Facebook may anonymise fundraiser data associated with deleted fundraisers. This means that while donation data will still be received and show in GivePanel, it may not include fundraiser information which means no facebook fundraiser record would be created.

  2. 1-Click Custom Facebook Fundraisers (GivePanel/Facebook Integration):
Fundraisers created through the GivePanel/Facebook integration (i.e., using the 1-click setup option) should appear in your GivePanel account almost immediately and are not reliant on Facebook transaction data for display.

Summary:

Deleted organic Facebook fundraisers generally do not appear in GivePanel if they haven’t received donations. Organic fundraisers with donations may appear providing facebook hasn't anonymized the fundraiser data, while 1-click custom fundraisers via GivePanel are immediately visible.
