How to surface GivePanel metadata in Stripe exports

View and export GivePanel payment metadata within Stripe to help identify account, event, form and platform details for reconciliation.

Written by Harry Gardner

GivePanel sends metadata to Stripe to help identify details such as:

  • Account

  • Event

  • Form

  • Platform

This can help with reconciliation and identifying payments across different campaigns or events.

Please note: Stripe’s interface and export options can vary between accounts and may change over time. The below steps reflect what we’ve tested and observed so far within Stripe Connect.

Step 1: Check the payment metadata on an individual transaction

Within Stripe, head to:

  • Transactions / Payments

  • Open an individual payment record.

  • There should be a “Metadata” section visible on the payment itself.

This is where GivePanel passes through details such as:

  • Account

  • Event

  • Form

  • Platform

Step 2: Open the Payout Reconciliation report

Within Stripe, head to:

Reports → Payout reconciliation

On this page, there should be an “Export” option next to “Payout reconciliation”.

Step 3: Export the report with metadata fields included

When exporting the report:

1) Select “Download to system”

2) Change the column selection from “Default” to either “All” or “Custom”

3) Scroll down to the “Payment metadata” section

4) Include the relevant metadata fields within the export

Step 4: Review the exported file

Once the export has been generated, you should see metadata columns included within the file. This can include:

  • Account

  • Event

  • Form

  • Platform

These fields can then be used to help reconcile payments and identify which campaign, form or brand a payment relates to.
