Meta Pixel Tracking Recommendations

We recommend that charities always have ownership of their own pixel if possible.

You do not need a new Meta pixel for setting up pixel tracking from GivePanel and so we recommend you use your existing pixel, but a new one works fine too.

Meta Pixels can be shared between Meta Business Manager and Ad accounts and under some circumstances it may be more practical for your agency to set up a pixel for you in their Meta account and share it with you. This is fine, just be aware that your agency will have control of this pixel and worst case scenario if you move agencies you may need to start a new pixel all over again.

It is also possible to use a pixel that is shared across more than one charity account. GivePanel sometimes uses this approach with carefully selected customers for beta testing new tracking features quickly. However this is not a recommended long-term solution.

In all these cases, even though there is no personally identifiable information involved, we recommend you keep your privacy policy up to date to let your supporters know exactly how you are using their data.
