What Are Labels Used For
Labels are digital markers added to a Fundraiser Record that allows you to learn specific information about a Fundraiser at a glance. They also let you track various pieces of data during your supporter's journey and help you group and filter by specific pieces of data.
You can use labels for anything you desire but the primary use case is for tracking what messages you have sent to a fundraiser.
This allows you to track who has been thanked and easily filter by those who haven't (filtering by the ''new'' label).
Some organizations will also use labels as a way of tracking fulfilment for their Facebook Challenges e.g. adding a label to a fundraiser record when the supporter has been sent the incentive for taking part in a Facebook Challenge.
You can use labels for tracking custom properties, too. You may want to label high-value fundraisers so you can easily see this segment of supporters by filtering for the relevant label.
If you've noticed some supporters raising funds at their workplace, you may want to apply a label that indicates this. This way, your colleagues responsible for corporate fundraising can quickly filter and steward this group of supporters.
Whatever the reason, labels will help you group and track your fundraisers.
How To Create A Label
You can create labels in Audience > Labels and Codes > Clicking ''New Label''
How To Use Labels?
To use the labels, navigate to either a fundraiser or donate button post record in your fundraiser list (found by heading to Audience > Fundraisers).
You will see a column marked "Labels". When a fundraiser record first appears in GivePanel, they are automatically assigned the ''New'' label. Some organizations will use this to identify the fundraisers they have yet to thank.
When you click on a fundraiser in the list to open the record, you will see the labels section on the right.
From here you can apply the labels as needed by simply clicking them, and then clicking "Save".
Have you sent the fundraiser a thank you message? If so, add that label. Have you also sent them their welcome pack? Perhaps they belong to the top fundraisers group, and you have a special message for them. Whatever purpose you have in mind for labels, they will help you save time and stay organized.
Hidden Labels
There are 2 status's for labels: Active Labels and Hidden Labels.
Active Labels are labels that are ready to be applied to a fundraiser record.
Hidden Labels are labels that are not available to add to a fundraiser record and are hidden from any fundraiser it was applied to. Labels can be hidden to make other labels easier to find and/or because they are no longer in use. You can unhide a label at any time.
**IMPORTANT TIP** When a label is hidden, so is the Fundraiser Record it is attached to. If you need to find a record that has a Hidden Label, you must navigate to Audience > Fundraisers > Filters > Toggle "Show fundraisers with hidden labels".
Please find more information on how to hide and delete a label here.
FAQs
What are labels most commonly used for?
You can use labels for anything you desire but they are typically used for tracking what messages you have sent to which fundraiser, so you can keep track of how you are applying your stewardship strategy. They are also used for anything specific about that fundraiser you want to label so it can be easily accessed later (e.g. an influencer, celebrity, politician, top Fundraiser, etc...)
Can I delete a label after I made it?
Yes! To delete a label all you have to do is hover over it and click edit. Then click "Delete Label" and then "Delete". More information on how to do this here.
Is there a limit to how many labels I can add to a fundraiser record?
There is no limit.
When I export a report, will my labels be in individual columns?
No, labels for a fundraiser will all appear in the same column, separated by a comma. If you want them in separate columns, check out internal codes.

If a fundraiser has multiple labels, will it be hidden when I hide one of those labels and search for a different label?
