In this article, we explain what Zapier is and how it works as an online automation tool that allows users to connect different web applications and automate workflows between them.

What is Zapier?

Zapier is an online automation tool that allows users to connect various web applications and automate workflows between them. With Zapier, users can create "zaps" which are automated workflows that can perform a wide range of tasks, such as sending emails, adding contacts to a CRM, posting on social media, and much more.

Zapier connects to over 3,000 web applications, including popular tools like Slack, Gmail, Google Sheets, Trello, and Salesforce. Users can set up triggers in one application, such as a new email or a new contact, and have it automatically create an action in another application, such as adding the contact to a CRM or sending a message on Slack.

Zapier makes it easy for users to create complex workflows without needing to know how to code or hire a developer. It's a powerful tool for streamlining business processes and improving productivity by automating repetitive tasks.

By integrating with the GivePanel trigger, there are two events available that can initiate a Zap: ''New Fundraiser'' and ''New Registration''.

How Do I Use It?

To get started, you'll need your own Zapier account. Once you have set up your account, you can easily find and add GivePanel to your list of connected applications.

Please note: this feature is currently in Beta testing, and we appreciate your constant feedback to help us improve the integration and ensure it works seamlessly for our users.

Step 1: Once logged into your Zapier account, select ''Create'' in the top left of the page and select ''Zaps'' from the drop-down. Click on the ''Trigger'' modal and search for GivePanel.

Step 2: Select the desired event (this is an action that can trigger a Zap). For example, there are currently two events available: ''New Fundraiser'' & ''New Registration''. This can pull out of GivePanel all information that is available via our GivePanel API for fundraisers and registrations via a Zap.

Step 3: Connect your account. To do this you will need your API key which is found within the Integrations tab. Your charity ID can be found by clicking on your account name in the top right of your GivePanel account. The ID is listed under ''Account ID''.

Step 4: Enter the title of your event. This has to be the same title you have given your event within GivePanel, for example, '60 Miles in April'.

Step 5: Check your data. Zapier will pull through a test for you to double-check the data and form information you wish to pull through.

Step 6: Connect the application you wish to push your data to. In the example below I will connect to Google Sheets.

Zapier will then give you the option to map your fields whether it's to your CRM, email/SMS provider, or Google Sheets.

Step 7: Test and set live. Zapier will automatically push through a registration or new fundraiser to your desired application. In the example below, we have tested creating a registrant as a new row on a Google Sheet.
