Segments allow you to save filtered groups of contacts for future use. Whether you're targeting supporters who raised a specific amount or those registered for particular campaigns, Segments make it easy to organise and track your audience.

Accessing Segments
If enabled in your account, navigate to Audience in the main navigation bar and select Segments from the dropdown menu.

Key Features of Segments

1. Save and Reuse Filters

Save any set of filtered contacts as a reusable list. Segments automatically update when filters are modified.

2. Widgets for Segment Insights

Each segment displays:

  • Total Contacts: The number of contacts in the list.

  • Total Raised: The cumulative amount raised by those contacts.

  • Average Value: The average amount raised per contact.

3. Manage and Export

  • View, edit, or delete lists directly from the Segments page.

  • Export lists as CSV files for further analysis.


Using Filters in Segments

Creating a Segment

  1. Navigate to Audience > Contacts.

  2. Apply desired filters (e.g., "Activity Type: Registration," "Amount Raised: More than $100").

  3. Click Save This Segment to save the filtered contacts as a segment.

Editing a Segment

  1. Go to Audience > Segments.

  2. Click View next to the segment you want to edit.

  3. Modify filters or add new ones.

  4. Click Save Changes to update the list.

Combining Filters in Segments

Example combinations:

  • Contacts registered for "50 Miles in May" who raised more than $50.

  • Active fundraisers on JustGiving.


Managing Segments

Columns and Sorting

Segments display columns like Name, Platform, Amount Raised, and Updated. Use column headers to sort data alphabetically or numerically.

Deleting Segments

Click the hamburger icon next to a segment and select Delete to remove it.

Exporting a Segment

  1. Open the segment.

  2. Click Export to CSV to download the list.


FAQs

Q: Can I rename a saved segment? Currently, renaming segments is not supported. You can create a new segment with updated filters.

Q: How is the Average Value widget calculated? The average is calculated by dividing the Total Raised by the Total Contacts in the segment.
