Virtual Events Onboarding Checklist

Follow this checklist to get your Virtual Event fully set up so supporters can register and create fundraising pages.

Overview

This checklist is for charities getting started with Virtual Events in GivePanel, whether you are brand new to GivePanel or setting up a Virtual Challenge for the first time.

Once you’ve completed the steps below, you will have a live campaign where supporters can:

  • Register for your virtual challenge

  • Create a fundraising page (Facebook, JustGiving or other platforms)

  • Receive automated stewardship emails

  • Be tracked and reported on within GivePanel

Step 1: Create your GivePanel account

(Only if you do not already have a GivePanel account)

The team will have emailed you steps to create your account. If you haven’t received this, please contact [email protected] or your account manager.


Step 2: Connect your fundraising platforms

Connect GivePanel with your desired fundraising platforms:

Step 3: Enable the email tool

Virtual Events use automated Email Journeys to communicate with supporters.

To send emails from your charity’s domain, you’ll need domain authentication and the email tool enabled.

If your account already has this set up, you can skip this step.


Step 4: Create your Virtual Event campaign

You’re now ready to create your campaign in GivePanel.

This includes:

  • Adding your event name and dates

  • Creating your registration form

  • Customising the fundraiser page appearance

  • Configuring your email journey


Step 5: Share your form or links

Once your campaign is set up, you can:

  • Email campaigns

  • Social media e.g. in Facebook Groups

Step 6: Test and go live

Before launching:

  • Test your registration form

  • Create a test fundraiser

  • Check your email journey

  • Confirm links are working as expected
