JustGiving has released an updated fundraising page claim journey designed to make it easier for supporters to connect their fundraising pages to their JustGiving account after registering through GivePanel.
No action needed for GivePanel customers
The updated journey will automatically apply to supporters using the GivePanel and JustGiving integration.
What does “claiming” a fundraiser mean?
Depending on the campaign type and fundraising settings, after a supporter creates a fundraiser through the GivePanel and JustGiving integration, they will be invited to sign in to or create a JustGiving account.
This process is known as claiming the fundraiser and it links the fundraising page to the supporter’s JustGiving account.
Claimed fundraisers
Claimed pages allow supporters to:
Edit and personalise their fundraiser (through their JustGiving account)
Receive donation notifications from JustGiving
Access their fundraiser through their JustGiving account
Unclaimed fundraisers
Unclaimed pages are still live and can receive donations, however:
Supporters cannot customise the page yet
The page may appear as an anonymous “holding user” within JustGiving exports until claimed
Within GivePanel, supporter information is still captured during registration regardless of claim status.
Supporters can also claim their page later using their JustGiving Claim URL.
For more information on how claimed and unclaimed JustGiving fundraisers work, including how supporters can claim their page later, please see our help article here.
What’s changing?
The updated flow introduces:
A cleaner and more modern design
Simpler sign in and sign up steps
Clearer guidance throughout the journey
Improved mobile and tablet experience
Reduced friction during page setup
Key benefits
Simpler journey
Fewer steps and clearer guidance help supporters complete the process more easily.
Improved supporter experience
The updated layout makes it clearer what supporters need to do next at each stage.
Higher completion rates
Reducing confusion and unnecessary friction should help more supporters successfully claim their pages.
Better support across devices
The new journey is fully optimised for mobile, tablet, and desktop users.
Will this affect existing fundraising pages?
No. Existing fundraising pages and supporter journeys will continue working as normal, and anyone claiming their page will benefit from the improved flow.
The update only applies to fundraiser creation journeys using the GivePanel and JustGiving integration where the supporter is required to claim their page.
Please note, this improvement does not apply to the GivePanel Events fundraiser flow.
Within the GivePanel Events fundraiser flow, supporters are already asked to sign into their JustGiving account during the fundraiser creation journey itself. Because of this, the fundraising page is automatically linked to their JustGiving account at the point of creation, meaning there is no separate claim step needed afterwards.
