How Fundraising Pages Are Created in Fundraiser Flow vs Registration Flow

Understand how JustGiving fundraising pages are created in Fundraiser Flow and Registration Flow

When setting up an event in GivePanel Events and Tickets, both the Fundraiser Focussed Flow and Registration Focussed Flow result in a JustGiving fundraising page being created.

The key difference is when the supporter connects their JustGiving account and whether they need to complete a separate claim step.

This article explains how fundraising pages are created and linked in each flow.

If you are deciding which flow is right for your event, see Choosing Between a Fundraiser or Registration Focussed Flow.

Fundraiser Flow

In the Fundraiser Flow, fundraising comes first.

What Happens

  1. The supporter selects their ticket.

  2. They are prompted to log in to or sign up to JustGiving.

  3. JustGiving authentication takes place.

  4. A fundraising page is created and automatically linked to their JustGiving account.

  5. The supporter completes the rest of the registration journey.

What This Means

  • The fundraising page is created and fully linked to a JustGiving account before registration is completed.

  • No separate claim step is required.

  • The supporter’s name and email are pulled directly from JustGiving into their registration.

This flow prioritises fundraising commitment and ensures supporters cannot proceed without creating their page.

Registration Flow

In the Registration Flow, registration comes first.

What Happens

  1. The supporter selects their ticket.

  2. They complete the registration form.

  3. Payment is taken (if applicable).

  4. A fundraising page is automatically created via the JustGiving API.

  5. The supporter is prompted to claim their fundraising page at the final step.

What “Claiming” Means

Although the fundraising page is created automatically, it is not yet linked to the supporter’s personal JustGiving account.

The Claim JustGiving Fundraiser step prompts the supporter to:

  • Log in to an existing JustGiving account

  • Or create a new JustGiving account

Once they complete this step, the page becomes fully linked to their JustGiving account and editable by logging into their JustGiving account.

What This Means

  • The fundraising page exists before it is claimed.

  • Claiming connects the page to the supporter’s JustGiving account.

  • If the supporter does not complete the claim step, the page remains unclaimed (but is live and can receive donations).

  • Claim reminder emails can be sent to encourage completion.

This flow prioritises ease of sign up.

Key Differences at a Glance

Fundraiser Flow

  • JustGiving authentication happens first

  • Page is created in a supporters JustGiving account immediately

  • No claim step required

Registration Flow

  • Registration and payment happen first

  • Page is created automatically via API

  • Supporter must complete a claim step

Important Notes

  • In both flows, fundraising pages are connected to the JustGiving Event ID configured at event level.

  • If a Campaign ID is added, pages will also link to that campaign in JustGiving.

  • Supporters under 18 will not receive fundraising pages.
