When setting up a form, you’ll be asked to choose between two different flows:

  • Fundraiser Flow

  • Registration Flow

Both flows are designed for different types of supporter journeys. This guide explains how each one works and helps you decide which is the right fit for your campaign.

Fundraiser Focused Flow

The Fundraiser Flow is designed for events where fundraising is the primary goal.

How it works

  1. Supporters log in to JustGiving before completing their registration.

  2. Fundraising is a key call to action at the start of the journey.

  3. Registration follows once the fundraiser has been created and linked to the supporters JustGiving account.

What’s included

  • Individual fundraising

  • Team fundraising

  • Payments

  • Supplementary and additional data collection

When to use it

Choose the Fundraiser Flow if:

  • Fundraising is the main objective of your event

  • You want to ensure participants are committed to fundraising

  • You want to avoid large numbers of sign ups from people who may never fundraise

Because supporters must log in to JustGiving upfront, this flow acts as a commitment step and helps maximise fundraising conversion.

Registration Focused Flow

The Registration Flow is designed for events where getting people registered is the primary goal, with fundraising as a secondary step.

How it works

  1. Supporters complete their event registration first.

  2. Fundraising is set up at the end of the journey.

  3. The experience is similar to Virtual Events and Challenge flows.

Teams are not currently supported in the Registration Flow. This is planned for a future update.

When to use it

Choose the Registration Flow if:

  • Your main priority is getting as many people registered as possible

  • Fundraising is secondary to attending the event

  • You want the lowest possible barrier to entry for supporters

This flow works well for events where attendance, participation, or ticketing is more important than maximising fundraising commitment at sign up.

Quick decision guide

Use Fundraiser Flow if:

  • Fundraising comes first

  • You want more committed fundraisers

  • Teams and richer fundraising features are required (for now)

Use Registration Flow if:

  • Registration comes first

  • Fundraising is optional or happens later
