If your email journey is set up correctly but some supporters aren’t receiving emails, there are a few possible reasons for this.

1. Domain Authentication & Email Reputation

If you haven’t already set up domain authentication with the GivePanel support team, this will help ensure your emails have the best chance of deliverability. Authentication verifies that GivePanel has permission to send emails on behalf of your domain, which reduces the likelihood of emails being flagged as spam or rejected by inbox providers.

The support team can check whether this is set up for you. If not, you’ll need to complete the Google form linked in this help article.

2. Spam Filtering & Email Content

Different email providers use various spam filters that analyse factors such as:

  • Keywords and phrases – Certain words or phrases, especially those related to urgency, promotions, or financial transactions, can increase the likelihood of emails being flagged.

  • Links and attachments – If your email contains multiple links or shortened URLs (e.g., Bitly), this may be seen as suspicious by some inbox providers.

  • Sender reputation – If a supporter’s email provider has marked previous emails from the sending address as spam, this can impact future deliverability.

3. Email Engagement & Inbox Placement

  • If supporters haven’t opened previous emails, inbox providers (like Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo) may categorize future emails as promotional or spam based on engagement history.

  • If a supporter has marked an email as spam in the past, future emails may automatically go to their spam/junk folder.

  • Encouraging supporters to add your email address to their contacts or safe sender list can improve deliverability.

4. Technical Issues & Bounces

  • If an email bounces (e.g., due to an incorrect email address or a full inbox), GivePanel won’t attempt to resend it.

  • If the supporter has unsubscribed or been added to the excluded list, their email is on a suppression list, they won’t receive future emails.
