If you're using GivePanel to allow supporters to register and create JustGiving fundraising pages for an existing event (like the London Landmarks Half Marathon), you don’t need to create a new event in JustGiving. Simply link your JustGiving campaign to the existing event (In JustGiving), then add both the Event ID and Campaign Page ID into your campaign in GivePanel.
This ensures that when supporters create their fundraising pages using the GivePanel / JustGiving integration, they’ll be correctly linked to both the event and your campaign in JustGiving.
Running a campaign for a large organised event?
If you're taking part in a major event like the London Landmarks Half Marathon, you don't need to create your own version of the event in JustGiving. These events are already listed on the platform and can be linked to your own JustGiving campaign page.
Here’s what to do:
Create your campaign page in JustGiving as usual.
While setting it up, link your campaign to the existing organised event already listed on JustGiving.
→ JustGiving’s guidance on linking to an existing eventIn GivePanel, go to your campaign settings and add:
The Event ID (from the organised event in JustGiving)
The Campaign Page ID (from your campaign in JustGiving)
What happens next?
When supporters create their fundraising pages through your GivePanel journey:
Their fundraising pages will automatically be linked to both the JustGiving campaign and the official event.
These pages will be correctly pulled into GivePanel the event automatically applied, ensuring accurate reporting and event tracking.
Why this works:
JustGiving prevents charities from duplicating large, well-known events (e.g. marathons or national races). Instead, they encourage linking your campaign to the existing event listing. This makes setup easier and keeps all fundraisers for the same event grouped under one shared event ID.
If you need help finding the Event ID or Campaign Page ID, or you’re unsure if an event is already listed, feel free to reach out to JustGiving or contact our team via [email protected].
