Understanding How “Amount Raised” Email Triggers Work When Enabled Mid-Campaign

When you enable Amount Raised emails partway through a campaign, GivePanel checks each supporter’s fundraising progress to determine who should receive them.

The short answer

If a supporter has already met the fundraising target, whether or not they receive the email depends on when their last donation was made:

Situation

What happens

The supporter has reached the milestone and received a donation in the last 7 days

They’ll receive all of the amount raised emails that apply to their total (for example, £10, £50, £100).

The supporter has reached the milestone but hasn’t received a donation in the last 7 days

They won’t receive any of those emails retroactively - unless they go on to hit a new milestone later.

Example

If you turn on “£10,” “£50,” and “£100” amount raised emails halfway through your challenge:

  • A supporter who raised £120 last week and received a donation yesterday will get all three milestone emails.

  • A supporter who raised £120 two weeks ago and hasn’t received a new donation since will not receive any.

Why this happens

This 7 day check helps ensure that:

  • Supporters don’t receive multiple “catch up” emails at once, which could feel spammy.

  • Milestone emails stay relevant and timely, tied to recent activity on the fundraiser.

Summary

  • When you enable amount raised emails partway through a campaign, GivePanel checks for recent fundraising activity before sending.

  • Supporters who have received a donation within the last 7 days and already meet multiple milestones will receive an email for each milestone they qualify for.

  • This can mean that some supporters receive more than one email close together.
