Why you don’t need to add name and email fields when using a fundraiser flow in GivePanel Event registration forms (GivePanel Events)

Why you don’t need to add separate name and email fields when using a GivePanel Event fundraiser flow, and how supporter details are automatically pulled from JustGiving during authentication.

Written by Harry Gardner

When using a fundraiser flow in a GivePanel Event registration form, supporter details such as first name, last name, and email address are automatically pulled from JustGiving during authentication.

This means you do not need to include separate fields in your form to collect these details.

How supporter details are populated

When a supporter starts the fundraiser flow:

  • They authenticate with JustGiving at the beginning of the process

  • GivePanel retrieves their details directly from their JustGiving account

  • First name, last name, and email address are automatically applied to the registration

Why you should not add separate name or email fields

Including additional fields for name or email in a fundraiser flow is not required because:

  • These details are already captured through JustGiving authentication

  • It can result in duplicated data against the registration
