Troubleshooting “Could not create your fundraiser” Error with JustGiving Fundraiser Creation

Learn how to troubleshoot the “Could not create your fundraiser” error when testing your campaign

If you encounter the following message whilst trying to create a JustGiving fundraiser through GivePanel:

“Oh no! We could not create your fundraiser. Please try again later.”

This normally means JustGiving has rejected the fundraiser creation request before the fundraising page could be created.

Below are the most common causes and how to resolve them.

1. Check the JustGiving campaign or event is live

One of the most common causes is the connected JustGiving campaign or event not being publicly live in JustGiving yet.

If the campaign is still in draft / unpublished or no longer active, fundraiser creation can fail.

We’d recommend checking in JustGiving:

  • The campaign or event is published and live in JustGiving

  • The campaign has not expired or been retired​

2. Ensure fundraiser creation is enabled on the JustGiving campaign

GivePanel can only create fundraising pages against campaigns where fundraiser creation has been enabled within JustGiving.

Within the JustGiving campaign settings, ensure the following option is enabled:

“Let fundraisers create fundraising pages directly from your campaign page”

The setting should look something like this:

If this setting is disabled, JustGiving will reject fundraiser creation requests from GivePanel.

3. Check the JustGiving integration is still connected

If the JustGiving integration has disconnected, fundraiser creation requests may fail.

We’d recommend checking:

  • The JustGiving integration still shows as connected in GivePanel

  • The correct JustGiving charity admin account is connected

  • Head into the JustGiving integration (within the integrations section of GivePanel and click update) if a green success message is returned, the integration is connected all ok.

If needed, reconnect the JustGiving integration and retry the fundraiser creation process.
